Peral was the first electric battery-powered submarine, built by the Spanish engineer and sailor Isaac Peral for the Spanish Navy.[1] The first fully capable military submarine,[2] she was launched 8 September 1888. She had one torpedo tube (and two torpedoes) and an air regeneration system. Her hull shape, propeller, and cruciform external controls anticipated later designs.[citation needed] Her underwater speed was 3 kn (5.6 km/h; 3.5 mph). With fully charged batteries, she was the fastest submarine yet built, with underwater performance levels (except for range) that matched those of First World War U-boats for a very short period, before her batteries began to drain. For example, the SM U-9, a pre-war German U-boat built in 1908, had an underwater speed of 8.1kn, and an underwater range of 150 km (81 nmi) at 5.8kn, before having to resurface to recharge her batteries.[citation needed] In June 1890, Peral's submarine launched a torpedo while submerged. It was also the first submarine to incorporate a fully reliable underwater navigation system. However, conservatives in the Spanish naval hierarchy terminated the project despite two years of successful tests. Her operational abilities have led some to call her the first U-boat.[3]

Peral was withdrawn from service in 1890 and is now preserved at the Cartagena Naval Museum.

1/144 Boeing B-50 Superfortress - Minicraft

1/144 B-50 Superfortress - Minicraft

The B-50 evolved from the B-29 which was used during World War II. Modifications were made to the B-29 to improve speed and payload and to integrate the delivery of new atomic weapons into the aircraft design. The modified airplane was expected to become the B-29D but so many modifications were made that the airplane was re-designated the Boeing B-50, the first purpose built aircraft to carry atomic weapons.

The new Minicraft B-50 will feature all new tooling representing the aircraft first flown in 1947. The new kit will feature rotating propellers, position-able landing to display with gear up or down, and a clear stand for displaying the airplane in flight.

Decals, printed by Cartograf will offer two marking options.

USAF/VNAF AC-119G Shadows & AC-119K Stingers in the Vietnam

1/144  USAF/VNAF AC-119G Shadows & AC-119K Stingers in the Vietnam - AOA Decal

For use on the Roden Kit: http://www.roden.eu/HTML/322.htm

Decals Review: http://www.hyperscale.com./2018/reviews/decals/aoa14401preview_1.htm

AOA Decals Website: http://www.aoadecals.com/144.htm                  http://www.aoadecals.com/14401/home.htm

This 1/144 decal sheet includes marking options for AC-119G Shadow and AC-119K Stinger gunships in the Vietnam War as operated by the United States Air Force (USAF) and the South Vietnam Air Force (VNAF). Although the AC-119G Shadow variant is not available in kit form, the Shadow can be easily represented by relatively basic modifications to the Roden AC-119K Stinger kit.

14 Marking Options Included:

Six USAF AC-119G Shadows covering 71st Special Operations Squadron (SOS) and 17th SOS:

The Devil's Advocate, City of Columbus Indiana, The Charlotte Representative, Burks Law, and two Charlie Chasers marked aircraft (all options provided also carried a variation of the Shadow III insignia).

Six USAF AC-119K Stingers covering 18th SOS:

Montezuma's Revenge, Fly United, Good Grief! The Pea-nut Special, The Super Sow, The Polish Cannon, and Black Killer Duck.

Two VNAF AC-119G Shadows covering 819th Attack Squadron.

NOTE: No specific VNAF AC-119K Stingers from 821st Attack Squadron are provided. However, other than the addition of the the Vietnamese fin flash on the tail, the VNAF Stingers did not appear to have any other unique markings after inheriting the aircraft from 18th SOS. All of the USAF AC-119K aircraft on this sheet were transferred to the VNAF in 1972/73 (minus the nose art), and as such, the Vietnamese fin flashes provided could be used with the AC-119K tail codes to represent a VNAF AC-119K Stinger if desired.

Data/stencil sets provided for at least TWO aircraft with variations of certain markings also provided as options. Also included are decals for both the original AeroProducts 4-bladed propellers and the later Hamilton Standard 3-bladed propellers (used by both VNAF options and also Black Killer Duck). Additionally, decals provided for the flare launcher's compressed air/nitrogen bottles' markings and as well as the illuminator's various placards/warnings.

1/144 Tupolev TB-3-4M-17F / G-2 by Mars Models

1/144 Tupolev TB-3-4M-17F / G-2   by Mars Models
he Tupolev TB-3 (Russian: Тяжёлый Бомбардировщик, Tyazholy Bombardirovschik, Heavy Bomber, civilian designation ANT-6) was a heavy bomber aircraft which was deployed by the Soviet Air Force in the 1930s and during World War II. It was the world's first cantilever wing four-engine heavy bomber.[2] Despite obsolescence and being officially withdrawn from service in 1939, the TB-3 performed bomber and transport duties throughout much of World War II. The TB-3 also saw combat as a Zveno project fighter mothership and as a light tank transport.

Mars Models is a new company to 1/144 with an interesting starter with this early soviet bomber, they also have other 1/72 kits that would look great in 1/144.
