1/144 The Tupolev ANT-20/bis 'Maxim Gorky' - RusAir

1/144 The Tupolev ANT-20/bis  'Maxim Gorky' - RusAir
I don't know too much about this release 'coming soon, though imagine it will be a short run plastic or resin kit?
Its also not clear if the kit will allow you to build two versions of this aircraft, or whether there will be two issues of the kit.

Only two of these aircraft where built and seem to be part transport, part flying propaganda/cultural centres!
These aircraft where also the largest of their type using the Junkers corrugated sheet metal principals.

I cant find a RusAir website but judging that all thier other kits seem to go for the same price (US 69, Roubles 1950, equates to 36-40 GBP)

interesting Youtube videos of the ANT-20

Clearly if you bought the Anigrand  Kalinin K-7 this is the one for you (or maybe Revells Junkers G-38?)

1/144 US Navy F-14 Tomcat - Trumpeter

The next in the series of eagerly awaited kits from Trumpeter, this time the awesome F-14 of the US Navy.
The IPMS assessment indicates that this kit provides even more option out of the box then the recent SU-27 issue, with the Tomcat coming with various early and late components, include two front fuselage sections!

1/144 JAS-39C Gripen - Model CZ

1/144 JAS-39C Gripen - Model CZ

I have not heard of this company before, but they do seem to make Gripens a speciality although previously in other scales.

It looks like this comes as an injected kit, with clear injected canopy and set of lo-viz decals with special flight decals  http://air-attack.com/images/single/1005/10000-flight-hours-with-Czech-Gripen.html

The price is a bargain at 170 Kopeks (@6GBP) this might be reflected in some of the issues?

Should you want additional schemes, the Mark-1/4+ publications decal and book set appears to be available still from Hannants etc

1/144 WWII German Fl-282 "Kolibri" V15/B-1 - CGD

1/144 WWII German  Fl-282 "Kolibri" V15/B-1 - CGD

Fl-282 "Kolibri"- Fl-282 "Kolibri"was designed by Anton Flettner and was one of the earliest operational helicopter in WWII, and probably was Anton Flettner's most successful helicopter development. The helicopter used a revolutionary twin rotors with counter rotating intermeshing blades. The rotary moments of the counter rotation cancelled each other so there was no need for a tail rotor. The Kriegsmarine showed keen interest in the small helicopter design and supported its development for use as shipboard reconnaissance aircraft and also to perform in anti-submarine role while carrying bombs. The helicopter would also perform as land based reconnaissance aircraft.

The helicopter went through no less than 23 revisions during development. V1 to V3 had a stream lined body and fully glazed cockpits. V5 to V12 had boxed fuselages and either open cockpit or semi-glazed cockpit.Open cockpit version was designated as B-0 and semi glazed version was designated as B-1.

V21 and V23 were designed as two seaters with a nose design that resembled modern US Apaches, which was not a surprise because a surviving V23 was captured by the US by the end of the war.
V15 was supposed to be captured and ship back to the US after the war.
After the war, Anton Flettner was brought to US as part of Operation Paperclip and became the chief designer of Kaman Aircraft and continued his development of helicopter such as K-1200 K-Max.

This model is based on Fl-282 V15 with semi glazed cockpit (B-1). Highly detailed features included detail cockpit and engine down to the eight blade cooling fan.

When ordering a painted version, this item will be Fully Painted in the selected Colour Scheme and Weathered.

To facilitate shipment, all painted items model will be shipped in six parts. Minor assembling required.

Okay, So you should not need me to tell you about the Sd.Kfz 251, but what you might not know is that Pegasus has come up trumps and appears to be reissuing the Trumpeter mold. 1-144 WWII German Sd.Kfz 8 DB10 ‘Lufcik’UNPAINTED KIT - KG144 x CGD

1-144 WWII German Sd.Kfz 8 DB10 ‘Lufcik’UNPAINTED KIT -  KG144 x CGD

A new unpainted kit version of this items is available at auction :
 http://stores.ebay.com/Combat-Group-Dynamix/_i.html?_fsub=4294345

The History
The history of this vehicle begins on January 18 1945 when it was lost while trying cross the Pilica River in Poland, becoming embedded in the sandy river bed. This vehicle is probably one of several prototypes of this variant for which the production has never been fully accounted.

While the history of the Sd.FKz 8 series dates back to 1934, the evolution and history of this particular variant is undocumented. It clearly shares a heritage of the Sd.Kfz 8 which was designed as a standard tractor chassis for the purpose of towing the 88mm Flak Cannon (and other large guns), this one however having alternative configuration with an armoured body with 12mm steel plates.

This vehicle was of late war production and served on the Eastern Front with a Luftwaffe unit, probably tasked with providing AA Flak duties utilising the mighty 88mm.

Interestingly, the original license plate WL 323863 was still with the vehicle when recovered from the river and identifies it as Luftwaffe Vehicle. This plate also differs to the license plate seen in other SDKFZ8 DB10 variants of this type, thereby giving weight to the argument that there was more than one of this type.

The first attempt to extract this from the Pilica River in 1957 by Polish Military Engineers was unsuccessful. It’s not clear if the vehicle suffered further damage as a result of this action?

In 1999 a group of Military Enthusiast were able to extract the 18-ton Vehicle and reconstruction was completed in 2003. The engine was further renovated and the vehicle was able to move under its own power by 2005. It was during this restoration process that the vehicle acquired its nickname of "Lufcik".

Model Features::
This miniature unpainted kit has a range of interesting and unique features
1. Detailed Model
            a. Detailed Exteriors, including MG.42
            b. Detailed Chassis and Running gear
           c. Detailed interior with drivers and crew compartment
2. Compatible with KG144 & CGD towing hook systems  (will hook up PAK-43 etc...)
3. Digitally mastered and produced using ground breaking  3D printing technology.
4. Made with strong and flexible nylon material, extremely durable.(note)
5. Individually hand painted and weathered.

Fact or Fiction?
Although only one of these beasts have been found it is thought to have had a short production run of 20 – 30 units in this configuration. What we can see is that one unit has been recovered and restored in Poland and a small number of photographs exist of this configuration deployed in the field.

No official records have been discovered to reveal how many of these vehicles were completed, and it appears that this example is the only one to make it past the scrap merchant and into a museum.
This restored vehicle can be seen at the Pilica River Heritage Park in Tomaszow, Poland where you can actually ride as a passenger during the Summer Events!

Interestingly, the original Maybach engine was thought beyond economical repair, so it was to be replaced with a Russian Truck engine. However, on inspection it became evident that the later period Russian engine had very similar design to the Maybach engine (possibly a Soviet copy of the Maybach design) this allowed for an engine to be restored incorporating much of the original transmission and many other elements of the running gear...

MKM14421   Focke-Wulf Fw 190A-8/A-9 (2in1 = 2 kits in 1 box)
(Luftwaffe)

The Focke-Wulf Fw 190, designed in 1938, was a versatile German single-seat aeroplane which became the backbone of the Luftwaffe’ fighter force during WWII. Except its main role as a day fighter (A-series) it was also used as a fighter-bomber and ground-attack aircraft (F models). It was an all-metal monoplane powered by a BMW 801 radial engine.

The Fw 190A-8 was the most numerously built variant, which production reached nearly 1400 machines. The A-9 was the last A-model produced and was fitted with a more powerful engine and a bubble canopy.
Tha armament remained similar to that fitted to the previous variants, i.e., two fuselage machine guns and four cannons in the wing roots and outer wings, while a drop tank could also be fitted beneath the fuselage.

Both variants took part in the final stages of air war over Germany, hopelessly defending the remnants of the Third Reich

Colour schemes included in the kit:
1)   Fw 190A-8, Red 1, Hans Dortenmann, 2./JG 54, Luftwaffe, Vélizy-Villacoublay Air Base, France, June 1944

MKM14415   Messerschmitt Bf 109G-1/G-2 (2in1 = 2 kits in 1 box) )
(Luftwaffe, Finnish Air Force)

The Messerschmitt Bf 109 was a German fighter aircraft designed in the mid-1930s. Powered by a Jumo and later by Daimler-Benz in-line engine, it represented the first modern fighter of the era. Originally conceived as an interceptor, later models were developed to fulfil various roles, such as bomber escort, fighter-bomber, day and night fighter, ground-attack or reconnaissance. Various armament modifications evolved in service, using pre-packaged or field kits. The aircraft was of an all-metal monocoque construction, featuring an enclosed canopy and a retractable landing gear.

The G-series aircraft were introduced in mid-1942. The initial variants (G-1 through G-4) differed only in minor details from its predecessor, the Bf 109F, most notably in the more powerful DB 605 engine. Odd numbered variants were built as high-altitude fighters, while even numbered variants were air superiority fighters and fighter-bombers.

The Bf 109 was the most produced fighter aircraft in the aviation history, and besides the German Luftwaffe it served in many other air forces and gallantly fought in all aerial combats of WWII.

Colour schemes included in the kit:
1)   Bf 109G-1/R6, Horst Carnagico, Stab II./JG 5, Luftwaffe, Alakurrti airfield, Northern Russia, April 1943

1)   Bf 109G-5, << + –, Gerhard Barkhorn, II./JG 52, Eastern Front, November 1943
2)   Bf 109G-5, Yellow 11, Gerhard Kroll, 9./JG 54, Black 1, Luftwaffe, Lüneburg Air Base, Germany, April 1944
3)   Bf 109G-6/R6, Red 13, Heinrich Bartels, 11./JG 27, Luftwaffe, Kalamaki airfield, Greece, November 1943

4)   Bf 109G-6, Combined Squadron of the Slovak Insurgent Air Force, Slovak National Uprising, Tri Duby airfield, Slovakia, August 1944

This injection-moulded kit contains 16 parts, 1 clear part (the cockpit canopy) and 3 resin parts (the cockpit interior and the wing bulges). A comprehensive instruction leaflet and a decal sheet are included.

1/144 Bf-109 and FW-190s from MARK I Models

1/144 Bf-109 and FW-190s from MARK I Models

There are two kits with decals in each box so two complete models can be made.
These were originally Eduard kits that have now been improved with resin cockpits and Mark I decals.

The decals are nice, though the kits are quite basic by modern standards. I am not sure when they were released but there are reviews from 2000, they actually seem to have a passing resemblance to the standard of the  recent Zvesda war gaming kits as they do not have cockpit cavities...
